ABOUT MINDGAMES
The number of people who play video games is STAGGERING -- more than half a billion people play for at least an hour a day. That's not even counting casual gamers.
More than likely, you are one of these billion people, whether you're a hardcore gamer or like to play casually. Maybe you're not a gamer at all. It might be kind of nice to get an inside scoop as to what makes game so compelling, right?
There is an unbelievable amount of psychological research behind the way games are designed and marketed. There are ways to explain how and why we react to games in certain ways.
MindGames is for those who want to know how video games and psychology interact. Why are mobile games so addicting? What makes collectible games so popular? Is violence in video games such a bad thing? These are some questions I seek to answer, as well as many, many more.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Whose writing this thing, anyway?
My name is Erica Benfield. I'm young, married to a gamer, and am a senior psychology student at the University of Michigan-Flint. I've been playing video games since I was three (my first game was Yoshi's Island). I grew up on Pokemon and Zelda, and have more recently started playing XBox and PC games.
Don't let my age fool you. I have an insider's perspective on a topic usually discussed by scholars who haven't touched a game in years. I have years of research experience. Plus, you know...I'm pretty "cool" :)
